Philodendrons are gorgeous houseplants. They have been around for ages. In the last few years, there have been a few pink plant schemes that have come up mainly (Pink Congo NOT Pink Princess). I watched a video by https://www.youtube.com/c/KayleeEllenOfficial (Kaylee Ellen) also the source of most of my information! Everything else is from Etsy. These plants have been chemically induced and sold at ridiculously high rates and sellers are not being transparent about the fact they are chemically induced. Okay, so what's the big problem? So what if their chemically induced? Yeah, Who Cares? Trust me you do and so does your purse/wallet. The big problem is that the variegation disappears within a while after the purchase of the said plant. Originally it was said that It disappears within 6-12 months but now it seems to be happening sooner than that. It seems to be disappearing around 3 months after purchase. What did I tell you? Ow Yeah, It's a scam!
1) Philodendron Pink Congo
I could spend a whole article on just this plant, but I won't. The Philodendron Pink Congo has been around for a few years now, but it is still out there being sold without a disclaimer most of the time.

Now, look at this picture. You will see some leaves with yellow and green mixed in. That is the reverting process taking place. In a few more months those pink plants up there will be green. The plant that was worth $200 (in 2019) is now worth $20. Currently, the Pink Congo is being sold for around 30$ due to the fact a lot know that this one is a scam, but the people of the world don't know they are. They might suspect it but my next one they have been coerced into believing it is for real.
2) Philodendron Pink Dark Lord
The Philodendron Pink Dark Lord is mysterious. I look at this plant and it screens scams. I was once considering buying this plant but reconsidered it due to the exponential amount of risk. Currently, their is a lot unknown about this one, so my information is limited but I would stay far away. Their are going to be a few more plants like this but as I learn more I will post updated versions of this article.

In this picture, I would like to highlight the price. It is no big secret that rare plants are not cheap, but these pink scams should not be worth $122.50 and up, as it says in the picture, in fact, they should be dirt cheap. Their is nothing wrong with buying these plants knowing they will revert. You can buy them for parties or for yourself. The problem is sellers are jacking up the prices and not being honest about what happens over time with this plant.

This is a plant description for the Pink Dark Lord and I don't see anything about the possibility of it reverting. Do you?
3) Philodendron Pink Micans
Okay, this one screams scam to me. I mean this picture of this plant does not look natural in my mind. This one I don't know anything about except it's expensive. looks like it could be chemically induced, and has a disclaimer about the variegation.

Okay, at least this seller is being transparent Right! I will give him that much but this out of stock plant is was listed as of 3-28-22 is $110 for a 3-inch pot. I mean know some plants in 2 inches go for thousands (Monstera Obliqua) but with the uncertainties that is a bit much. The value in a matter of months will go down from $100 to $10. NO IT IS NOT A MISTYPE!!!!!
4) Pink Philodendron Birkin (Yep Birkin)
I came across this doing research for myself. I have kinda heard about it but did not believe it till I saw it with my own eyes. This pink Birkin is not natural (pictured below to the left). The regular Philodendron Birkin is like a Pink Princess to me (Pink Princess and Regular Birkin are not scams but have unstable variegation). The Pink Princess reverts is known to revert back to green but you can get it back (you can't get chemically induced variegation back without more chemicals). The Birkin on the other hand, is pictured below to the middle and right, tends to go completely white. With both of those non-scam plants you cut and most of the time, it returns to normal. I'm done talking on this one! Here's your picture!

Left = Scam Middle = Regular Birkin Right = Birkin that needs chopped to start over (too white)
5) Phildodendron White Congo
Still with me? I know this article is taking a while. Most of mine are a two minute read! I honestly have not looked yet to see the estimate on how long it takes to read because I am still writing it. I saved the worst for last! Notice it just replaces pink with white. Do you even need to see a picture for this to know it's a scam? I'll give you one anyways.

Remember the picture of the reverting Pink Congos (above the first picture). This White Congo is doing the same thing in my opinion. Look at the big white leaf. It looks extremely similar to the Pink Congo reverting! Isn't that interesting!
My Last Note: Not all sellers know that these plants are all scams so don't go and leave nasty comments to every seller of these plants, please! Although I am going to bet over 3/4 of the sellers know this is a scam!
